Good things take time: This also applies to the RPG with Unreal Engine 5 from the former The Wichter developers. The Thaumaturge was supposed to launch in February, but will now not be released until March 4th. Fool’s Theory and 11 Bit Studios comment: “Sure, it’s ready to serve, but they want to make sure you can enjoy every bite without feeling overwhelmed by some of the other titles coming later this month feel.”
The developers alluded with a wink to the fact that the release calendar is quite full so far and that players “cannot possibly eat another bite”. But that might just be a side effect. If the developers were happy, The Thaumaturge would have been released. It’s likely that you’ll want to polish a few quests here and there – these are usually the things that still need to be done in an RPG at the end and are most likely to cause a shift because – unlike, for example, smaller graphics – Glitches – are essential for gameplay. It is actually the second, albeit small, shift. Initially December 5th was planned; then February; now March. After four years of development, this is probably manageable.
“We are pleased to announce that the game is now complete and numerous reviewers are already holding it in their hands. At the same time, taking into account the busy February release period and the opportunity for a better release window, we have decided to take advantage of this opportunity to To give The Thaumaturge more room to breathe so that it gets the attention we believe it deserves. We want you to have enough time to fully enjoy the game and we feel that the current release window is not the is the perfect moment to do it. With that in mind, we are moving the launch date to March 4, 2024. The extra time we get will be used to further polish the game so your journey through the streets of Warsaw in 1905 becomes even more pleasant.”
The Thaumaturge is a dark, narrative role-playing game that tells the story of the thaumaturge Wiktor Szulski. He strives to come to terms with his past and face his inner demons. The action takes place in Warsaw, Poland in 1905 and places a so-called Salutor alongside Wiktor – a real demon who feeds on human flaws and can only be controlled by the thaumaturge. In the iso perspective, strategic battles are carried out, while the focus is on character development against the background of morally difficult decisions. The dark RPG is being developed on the basis of Unreal Engine 5. The Thaumaturge appears on Steam, in the Epic Games Store and DRM-free on GOG.
