Recently there have been repeated rumors that Microsoft is planning to release its own games on PS5 and Nintendo Switch. At times, concrete ideas like Hi-Fi Rush were floating around in the media. They wanted to answer some open questions as part of an official podcast.
Instead of lukewarm, more or less useful information, the podcast immediately made waves. Finally, what many fans had already suspected was confirmed.
Xbox games on the PS5?
“So, we made the decision that four games should appear on the other consoles,” said Phil Spencer in the “Official Xbox Podcast”. However, Spencer doesn’t want to hear about a fundamental change in his own strategy when it comes to exclusivity. So for now there is “only” talk of four games.
“We truly make every decision with the long-term health of Xbox in mind,” said the 56-year-old. This health explicitly consists, among other things, of reaching the largest possible player base. Ultimately, the focus is on growing your own brands, even if not just on your own hardware.
“And I fundamentally believe that exclusive titles will become a smaller and smaller part of the video game industry in the next five to ten years,” was another statement from the Xbox boss during the podcast. Given such an attitude, the announcement doesn’t seem particularly surprising. Spencer does not mention in the podcast which other systems the four titles will appear on.
At the same time, it can be assumed that the PS5 and the Nintendo Switch are primarily meant. Both consoles had already been the focus of such speculation in the past.
