Blizzard Entertainment is also planning to cut numerous jobs. 136 employees are said to be affected.
According to a published Irish Examiner report Blizzard Entertainment plans to cut 136 jobs. This only affects the location in Cork, a city in Ireland.
Irish politician Michéal Martin confirmed the number of employees being cut. According to him, the situation is “very serious” for the people affected and their families.
Because there are around 200 employees in this office, that would mean that a large proportion of the employees would have to leave.
Is Blizzard refusing to negotiate?
Mick Barry from the Irish party People before Profit is also said to have stated that Blizzard refuses to negotiate with the relevant union. The workers elected this union to represent them.
Companies should not be allowed to come into this country, announce life-changing job cuts and simply refuse to speak to representatives elected by people who have worked for their employer for many years.”
Mick Barry on the above layoffs
The headquarters in Cork has existed since 2007. It is a support center for Activision Blizzard companies.
Just last month we reported on Microsoft’s planned layoffs. 1,900 employees have to pack their things, including one large part was accounted for by the acquired publisher Activision Blizzard. The studio behind “Diablo” and “World of Warcraft” is not spared from this either.
Activision has not yet commented on these layoffs. If a statement follows, we will draw attention to it as quickly as possible.
