Helldivers 2 was the star of Digital Foundry’s latest technical analysis, which put Arrowhead Game Studios’ shooter on PC and PS5 under a magnifying glass, ultimately returning a positive verdict.
Received excellent reviews in the international press, Helldivers 2 is not flawless from an artistic point of view, but uses a wide range of effects. There are two classic graphics modes on the PlayStation 5: one offers resolutions around 1728p but with an unstable 30 frames per second, the other offers resolutions up to 1080p but is able to maintain 60 frames per second quite reliably. The differences in detail are obvious, but in this type of game, smoothness is definitely at the forefront.
While the PS5 version of Helldivers 2 ultimately delivers despite some technical uncertainties that need to be ironed out, there appear to be a few more issues on PC, particularly the lack of important features like DLSS, FSR 2. So there is hope that developers will be able to fill these gaps in the near future by further optimizing the project and adding features that are currently missing
