We previously published a blog about the industries and crossroads you can find in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany. However, today we are happy to share with you more detailed information about the cities themselves! Our small remodeling team worked hard to completely remodel the area. Let’s take a closer look, shall we?
“All the cities were redesigned from scratch,” Iva, one of our cartographers, tells us. — We removed the previous map, which did not represent the Rhineland region very well. We then created a completely new urban structure that is more reflective of the area around the Rhine. We have tried to make the most of our spatial capabilities on the map and capture the Rhineland as realistically as possible, including population density, industries and ultimately its size. It will be a huge change from the base map.”
“One of the biggest changes players will notice is the density of the road network.” Iva explains: “It will now be possible to look into the very heart of some cities and see the contrast between the industrial zone and the center itself. Dare I say, we captured the best in every city!”
Cologne
When redesigning the city of Cologne, we wanted to be sure to take into account the size of the Rhine River, which flows through several cities in the area, with Cologne being the most famous. Thanks to this, you can now drive right along the embankment and admire the iconic buildings and sights of Cologne.
These include the Hohenzollern Bridge, a pedestrian and railway bridge with three charismatic undulating arches located close to perhaps one of the city’s most famous landmarks, Cologne Cathedral. You may have crossed this bridge at some point if you have never arrived by train (often delayed) to Cologne’s main train station.
Other attractions include the Cologne House, the Lanxess Arena and many other iconic buildings. You can also look forward to trams running around the city. These trams can also be found in all other cities mentioned in this blog. We are also pleased to announce the addition of the A3, a major autobahn connecting Cologne to Frankfurt! We hope you enjoy rediscovering this popular city.
Dusseldorf
Do you like sights? Then be sure to visit Düsseldorf, as many of them are waiting for you to discover. From the addition of two new churches to modern architecture, there are plenty of reasons to travel our new roads, some of which run right through the city.
However, if sightseeing isn’t your thing, you can rely on cargo transportation to and from steel mills and auto plants located near the city center. If you want to take your delivery experience to the next level, you can also visit Düsseldorf Airport, which features an animated skytrain!
Dortmund
If you prefer to travel through industrial areas, Dortmund is for you. With winding roads and major intersections, you’ll find some of our largest industry warehouses here, including familiar gaming companies like IKA, LKW and ITCC.
Don’t miss out on the opportunity to book delivery to and from this vibrant hub, there will be plenty of work contracts available in this city. Don’t forget to wear your local football team’s colors – yellow and black!
Duisburg
As many of you may already be familiar with, Duisburg is a busy city, not only in terms of population, but also in terms of its roads! Situated between several other major cities, it serves as an important industrial center not only by land but also by water.
Situated on the Rhine River, you will find one of the world’s largest inland ports, the Port of Duisburg, which is Europe’s leading logistics hub, handling over 20,000 ships and 25,000 trains per year. The port handles a whopping 3.6 million containers per year! This is one of the largest industrial zones that we could not miss.
You will also have the opportunity to drive into the center of the city itself, where you will find Duisburg Town Hall, churches and the Swan Gate Bridge, the famous vertical lift bridge located in the city.
Players will also be able to drive across the Ruhr Bridge, as well as two new bridges that will connect them to another part of the city. There they can find many other attractions. They will also be able to take the E40 highway, which runs through the city and includes the famous Kaiserberg Cross intersection as well as other points of interest.
There is so much more that we couldn’t fit into this blog, including some roads that are best hidden. Over the past 2 years, our small team of mostly 2-4 people has managed to redesign this area of 4 cities that can almost visually merge into one metropolis in the UI.
We really hope you appreciate the time and effort you put into exploring this region, and we’re even more excited for you to explore it on your own. In the meantime, we look forward to hearing your thoughts on this mega-project and what you’re looking forward to most.
