Building on its success with over a million copies sold at launch, Helldivers 2 is certainly one of the most popular games of the moment. The shooter from Arrowhead and Sony promptly ended up under the magnifying glass of Digital Foundry, which analyzed the PC and PlayStation 5 versions of the shooter.
In its video analysis, which you can consult via the video at the top of the news, Digital Foundry has first of all the effects department was praised, the animations and physics of Helldivers 2created by Arrowhead using a heavily customized version of Autodesk Stingray (an engine now removed from the market).
The tech experts then provided an overview of the options available on PlayStation 5with players as usual able to choose between Quality mode and Performance mode. The first offers 1728p resolution at a framerate of 30fps (with some sporadic drops to 28-29 fps in the most intense phases), while the second offers a 1080p resolution experience at 60fps (which sometimes drop to around 50fps) . Performance mode is certainly the way to follow for those who, especially in this type of action experience, are looking first and foremost for gameplay fluidity.
As well as demonstrating performance and visual fidelity across the various graphics presets on PCDigital Foundry wanted to highlight the lacks of some features now well present on the platform, such as upscaling technologies DLSS, XeSS e FSR 2. Who knows, however, the Arrowhead developers will decide to add these features with future patches.
