Director James Cameron cleared up rumors that he was allegedly preparing a nine-hour version of the third “Avatar”which can go to Disney+.
Earlier, information appeared online that the director was allegedly creating effects for nine hours of material that were shot for the third film in the series – and then this material would allegedly be compiled into a theatrical version, while the extended version would later appear on Disney+.
Judging by Cameron’s statement, his past words on this matter were somehow misinterpreted:
The director added that producer Jon Landau would “shoot” him if such a version of the third film actually existed – implying that working on such a film would be very difficult.
The third film is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release on December 17, 2025.
Now the authors are busy filming the fourth film in the franchise, which will appear in cinemas only in 2029. The fifth film is expected in 2031.
At the same time, Cameron recently admitted that he was thinking about creating the sixth and seventh parts, although they could be directed by someone else.
