I doubts about the release of Switch 2 at the end of 2024 raised by the declarations of Nintendo’s top management on the unstoppable success of the Switch and the increase in sales forecasts during the current calendar year find further confirmation (albeit unofficial) by several anonymous developers.
In fact, Brazilian journalist Pedro Henrique Lutti Lippe of OX do Controle claims to have received from as many as five separate sources the unofficial confirmation of Nintendo’s decision to postpone the Switch 2 marketing window ‘internally’ from the Christmas holidays of 2024 to the first months of 2025.
The editor of the Brazilian gaming magazine reports that the anonymous sources he consulted are developing video games for Nintendo Switch 2 intended to see the light of day coinciding with the launch of the nextgen console from the Kyoto house. The Brazilian journalist’s advances are corroborated by the VGC editorial team, with two further anonymous developers claiming to have received indications about the release of their launch games for Switch 2 “in first quarter of 2025“.
Although it had not yet been announced, the Christmas launch of Switch 2 was taken for granted by Reuters and other industry insiders, and this regardless of the desire expressed on several occasions by the executives of the Kyoto company themselves not to hinder the anchor very high demand for consoles and games for the current Switch family of consoles. We are therefore awaiting an official comment from the Japanese gaming giant and, as always, we invite you to take these rumors with a pinch of salt and consider them as such.
