Remedy reported that sales of Alan Wake 2 by the beginning of February 2024 amounted to 1.3 million copies.
As Remedy CEO Tero Virtala stated:
Considering that the thriller exceeded 1 million copies at the end of December 2023, it turns out that the continuation of Alan’s story collected an additional 300 thousand copies in January 2024. At the same time, the company clarified that Alan Wake 2 is selling faster than all other games from the company.
For comparison, retail sales of Alan Wake 2 in the first two months were more than 50% higher than Control’s sales in the first four months (in digital terms, more than three times).
At the same time, sales of Control since its release in 2019 amounted to more than 4 million copies, and the game itself brought in approximately 100 million euros in revenue. Remedy expects Alan Wake 2 to have similar long legs when it comes to sales.
Remedy is going to continue to support the second chapter of Alan’s story – the company reminded that fans will have two paid add-ons and various updates ahead.
At the same time, Virtala added that the success of “Alan” helped in supporting other new Remedy products – like Control 2, Project Condor and remakes of two parts of Max Payne. The games will enter a new stage of development in the first half of 2024.
