The scandalous The Day Before, even after closing, continues to get into high-profile stories – in Steam We discovered a fake survival page, with the help of which some attackers tried to deceive players.
The first thing some netizens thought was that The Day Before itself had returned to Steam for $6. The Steam page featured a familiar description of the game and corresponding screenshots.
But a more careful study of the situation revealed that behind the “screen” of The Day Before was hiding something called Carrot The Cat. Moreover, some media outlets even tried to install the project, but nothing came of it – apparently, this is not even another game, but just a set of files.
Later, the attackers released a message saying that “the game’s files will soon be updated,” which they allegedly combined from 55 GB to 13 GB. At the same time, the page noted that Carrot The Cat is the secret name for the latest version of TBD.
However, the situation was soon brought to the attention of authors associated with the real The Day Before, who stated that they had nothing to do with this “new version.”
The page was eventually removed from Steam, but the publication PCGamesN I found out that before Carrot The Cat, on the same page they talked about the appearance of a “new part” of GTA – GTA Brazil. Apparently, this is not the first time that attackers are trying to deceive users.
The Day Before itself is unlikely to return to sale – a documentary was recently released about the problems of the game, which revealed details about the complex development process, strange management decisions and other details.
All these shortcomings led to the fact that the game found itself at the center of a scandal when deceived players began to return copies of the survival game – the authors’ studio was closed a couple of days after the game’s release, and then on January 22, the latter’s servers were turned off.
