Google has rolled out the screen effects feature for Google Messages in beta. Some messages can now trigger animations.
To convey certain ideas, words are not always enough. To add a little animation to its messaging application, Google has integrated animated visuals that will trigger when certain messages are received.
The Phone Arena site has indeed discovered, in the latest beta version of Google Messages, new animations which can be triggered when very specific messages are received. In an article published this Thursday, the site specifies that these “screen effects” are now available within the application for all beta testers.
Initially, this new feature was presented by Google last November, with other new features such as photomojis, personalized bubbles or profile management in Google Messages:
With Screen Effects, your messages come to life with vibrant animations that will transform your words into dazzling displays. Simply type specific messages like “it’s snowing” or “I love you” and watch your screen erupt in a symphony of colors and shapes. With your friends, try to discover the more than 15 phrases that trigger these screen effects.
Animations visible in SMS as well as in RCS
As reported by Phone Arena, messages like “I love you” or “Sounds good” can trigger animations, with hearts or thumbs up. Note that these effects can be triggered when RCS messages are received as well as for simple SMS messages.
Currently, this feature is only available to users enrolled in the Google Messages beta test program. However, screen effects are intended to be rolled out to all users in the coming months.
