The premiere of Marvel’s long-suffering Blade will most likely move to 2026. The WorldofReel portal reports this with reference to insider Jeff Snyder.
The outcome is expected, considering that the reboot of the vampire superheroic has replaced as many as six screenwriters and has not yet started filming. Currently, the director is Yann Demange (“71”), and the latest draft of the script was written by Michael Green (“Logan,” “Blade Runner 2049”).
It was previously reported that Mahershala Ali was going to leave the project, since the plot proposed by Nic Pizzolatto relegated his Blade to the background, but the option reworked by Green made the actor change his mind. However, despite all the difficulties, the film with an R rating and a budget of less than $100 million promises to be one of the most interesting projects from Marvel in recent years.
The first film about Blade, the vampire hunter, was released in 1998 and became the first successful film adaptation of Marvel comics, which was already followed by the series about the X-Men and Spider-Man. The main role in the cult film and its two sequels was played by Wesley Snipes.
