iRacing has been the most popular platform for online sim racing for years. Despite the horrendous costs, which we examined in more detail some time ago, the brand can assert itself at the top of its genre when it comes to multiplayer. However, there is a very specific feature that the fan base has been waiting for for many years.
This is exactly what is now just around the corner. With Season 2 of the year, not only new cars like the Dallara 324 or race tracks like the race track in Misano are added to the simulation. After around 16 years, a feature will soon debut in iRacing, which is part of the standard repertoire in other racing games such as Gran Turismo 7, rFactor 2 or Assetto Corsa Competizione.
It’s finally raining in iRacing
Should be in March 2024 Regen make its long-awaited debut in iRacing. To date, the title has only featured races on dry slopes, with wind and temperature already playing an important role. Race Department emphasizes that the release was actually intended for last December.
In addition to historical weather data, which can be found in games like Automobilista 2, iRacing advertises various racing lines in wet conditions. While the ideal line often represents the path to success on dry slopes, different grip conditions in the rain create new conditions. This is exactly what you want to simulate accurately.
You can adjust the weather itself completely freely with the new season. You should also have the opportunity to test the humid conditions offline. However, not all vehicles are initially available. How exactly the new feature will be implemented in the online series remains unclear for now. Apparently the decision should be made from series to series.
