There is no talk of landing yet – only a flyby is planned at first.
American space agency publishes photographs of the Orion spacecraft intended for the Artemis 2 mission. As part of this mission, NASA will again send people to the Moon for the first time since the seventies of the 20th century.
The Orion spacecraft is currently in the assembly stage. Photos released by NASA show both the interior and exterior of the ship: Orion, designed for a crew of four, is quite compact.
The composition of the crew that will fly to the Moon is already known: it includes Reed Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch and Jeremy Hansen, representing the USA and Canada. The astronauts are currently undergoing training.
As part of the Artemis 2 mission, there are no plans to land on the Moon: the astronauts will only fly around the Earth’s satellite. The Artemis 2 mission is expected to take place in September 2025.
It is planned to land people on the Moon again in 2026 as part of the Artemis 3 mission. The mission’s crew has not yet been announced; the launch is tentatively scheduled for September.
