Hideki Kamiya, the renowned director of the “Bayonetta” series, expresses the desire for remakes of his older masterpieces. In particular, the games “Devil May Cry” and “Viewtiful Joe”, which he developed during his time at Capcom before co-founding Platinum Games, are the focus of his “dreams”. He shared this information in a YouTube video on his newly founded channel, which he created after his departure from Platinum and an associated contractual hiatus from the video game industry of one year.
In the video, Kamiya shares that he occasionally dreams of remakes of “Devil May Cry” and “Viewtiful Joe.” This would mean that the games would be adapted to current standards, with improved graphics and a more sophisticated game design. In addition, the developer expressed the desire to develop more games in the “Okami” and “Viewtiful Joe” series. He sees “Okami” as a work in progress and even has a story planned for “Viewtiful Joe.”
Although numerous ports have appeared on various consoles over the years, the original “Viewtiful Joe” has remained on PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube. There are rumors that Capcom is planning to revive older franchises, but we haven’t heard any official announcements about it yet.
