It is assumed that the improvement will only appear in the PC version.
Genshin Impact developers are testing technology to reduce the size of patches, asserts Insider Dimbreath. The beta version of Genshin Impact is supposedly being used for testing.
According to an insider, the technology will allow both to reduce the amount of data for downloading and to reduce the amount of storage space required to install the next patch. Currently, patches for Genshin Impact can weigh more than 10 gigabytes.
Regular zip archives are used to deliver patches to the current version of Genshin Impact. Because of this, installing the update requires twice as much free space as the patch itself weighs.
Dimbreath cannot say when the new system for installing and delivering patches will appear in the release version of Genshin Impact. Perhaps this will not happen with patch 4.5, the next major update, but later.
Please note: this is only about reducing the size of the updates themselves. The technology will not affect the size of the final Genshin Impact distribution in any way – it will all weigh several tens of gigabytes.
