Those: Marvel / Disney
February 19th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. – Disney now wants to fundamentally revise the direction of Marvel so that the flops of the past few years are finally a thing of the past. To do this, one returns to old virtues.
Marvel has had to deal with a number of flops and much-criticized productions in recent years. Not only did movies like The Marvels not go down particularly well with audiences, series like Echo, Secret Invasion and Ms. Marvel also received more criticism than applause.
Time to tackle things and get things back on track. And that's exactly what should happen now – if Disney CEO Bob Iger has his way. As part of the last quarterly report, he revealed how Marvel and Co. should realign themselves.
Above all, the studios should shift their focus. Because in recent years, Marvel and the other Disney studios have focused primarily on the wrong things.

Focus on sequels and franchises
Marvel and Disney focused too much on broad content for the in-house streaming platform Disney Plus. Being broadly positioned isn't a bad thing, but if your core competence suffers as a result, then it's a bad approach.
And so the Marvel Cinematic Universe should concentrate more on cinema in cinematic again and release epic films for the big screen again. Quality instead of quantity is one of the magic words.
Another is “Sequels.” In the future, Marvel will pay more attention to the sequels to film series that have already proven their potential. So we're more likely to see more Iron Mans, Thors, Avengers and Co. than we get the introduction of new heroes or universes. You can like that, but you don't have to.
The impact of such decisions will certainly not be felt for another year or two. In just three or four years, the MCU could look completely different than it does today. Because currently we are getting more “average” series and hardly any big blockbusters. Things were completely different five or six years ago.
