Through an interview published on PlayStation Blog, Maximum Games spoke about the exclusive features from the PS5 version Of Pacific Drivewhich as per tradition only mainly linked to Sony’s unique DualSense peculiarities.
In particular, the developers have exploited the haptic feedback and adaptive triggers to reproduce as faithfully as possible the various ways in which the suspension and wheels of the car, basically the real protagonist of the game, react to the conditions of the asphalt, bumps or obstacles.
“The most important one is definitely the DualSense controller. We achieved something special when we started to fine-tune the tactile sensation, especially for the triggers [adattivi]the way they interact with the suspension and the reactions of the car,” said director Alexander Dracott.
“We’ve found a very clever way to translate the change in the suspension that the car handles as it moves forward and map that into the vibration. You might be driving over a bump and you’ll feel like the controller is reacting appropriately. If something knocks the wheel from your car, you will really feel it falling. We also added some noise to the simulation to make it precise when driving off-road. We are really happy with the feel of the game with this controller.”
Pacific Drive arrives this week
Before leaving you, we remind you that Pacific Drive will be available starting from February 22 2024 on PC and PS5. It is a first-person survival game, in which most of the gameplay dynamics revolve around the protagonist’s car, a reliable station wagon and a mobile shelter in which we can defend ourselves from external dangers.
It will therefore be important to find resources to repair it, upgrade it and customize it based on your needs and your play style to survive the radiation, environmental collapses and supernatural horrors within the Olympic Exclusion Zone, a region of the Pacific Northwest that has changed profoundly after some catastrophic tests by the US government. If you want to know more, we refer you to our test of Pacific Drive that we published at Gamescom last year.
