The independent Russian studio Next Genium, in a press release sent to 3DNews, recalled the development of the hardcore action movie Godreaper in the style of Dark Souls and shared plans for promoting the game.
Godreaper will take place in a “grim and detailed” dark fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology. According to the plot, the gods turned from human vices into “terrible creatures.”
Players will take on the role of the hero Stavr, who, upon returning from “imprisonment”, found his native land in chaos and devastation. The hero will have to fight gods and various monsters who have succumbed to corruption.
The developers promise “fierce battles,” unique weapons (each will have an alternative form and magical powers), abilities taken from the gods themselves, and special artifacts, the combination of which will allow “to defeat any enemy.”
The press release does not contain any new illustrative materials: the authors limited themselves to the old trailer (attached below) and screenshots (see gallery above). At the same time, games regularly share more relevant footage on social networks.
The release date for Godreaper has not been specified, but the game will receive a free demo version this year. In addition, the developers plan to open a project page on Steam. The exact dates are promised to be announced in the “near future.”
In addition to Godreaper, Next Genium has in development the Resident Evil 4-inspired zombie horror Formind, the space survival horror 14: Overmind, the Spore-inspired arcade Darwin Mission, the detective quest Blue Book and other games.
