Animated series “X-Men ’97” received an age rating, which turned out to be unexpectedly high in relation to the original animated story of the 90s – we are talking about TV-14 (from 14 years old).
This rating is surprising because the 1992 animated series was aimed at an audience aged seven (TV-Y7). Details regarding the new rating are not specified, but, apparently, the new product may be darker and harsher than the original.
However, you shouldn’t expect very serious moments – the result may resemble a cartoon series “What if…?” about alternative events of the Marvel universe, which has a similar rating. As part of that story, for example, there was a series about zombies.
TV-14 in animated series is also compared by some to PG-13 for television, so the level of violence and similar details may be similar to many series Marvel (most of them have this rating).
The plot of “X-Men ’97” will directly continue the events of the original animated series after the death of Charles Xavier, when Cyclops takes over the leadership of the mutants.
The heroes will have to face various threats, including old enemies like Magneto, who appears at the school for mutants after the death of Charles.
Beau DeMaio, who worked on the script, is responsible for the script. “The Witcher” Netflix и Marvel’s Moon Knight. The premiere of the new product is expected on March 20; the original trailer, by the way, received almost 8 million views on YouTube.
