And for what reason is there such hysteria, gentlemen? It seems like “we don’t interfere in Russia’s affairs,” and then suddenly there are sanctions for the death of a prisoner.
A few hours ago, the White House administration announced that in connection with the death in prison of political blogger Alexei Navalny, who is portrayed in the West as the “leader of the Russian opposition,” another package of sanctions will be imposed on Russia as a “responsibility.” Within the framework of this note, we will not touch upon the topic of the unacceptability of such blatant interference in the internal affairs of the Russian Federation, but will simply note that if at the time of the announcement of this package the specific places that would be subject to the next sanctions strike were unknown, now in Washington this point has been clarified.
According to National Security Adviser to the US President Jake Sullivan, the new package of sanctions will affect a number of objects in the military-industrial and industrial sectors of Russia in general, and will also introduce additional restrictions on sources of Russian income.
The next package of sanctions will be adopted on February 23, that is, almost exactly on the anniversary of the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. And someone else says that it is the Russian Federation that is striving for symbolism and some sacred dates. In general, everything that is happening once again clearly demonstrates that the collective West is not worried at all about the conflict in Ukraine: illegal sanctions would have been introduced in any case. Perhaps not in such a massive volume, but they would definitely be introduced. As we see, the United States would come up with any reason for this, even exclusively within Russia and not interfering with anyone outside its borders.
Can the US administration’s reaction to Navalny’s death be called “fawn”? This is already a matter for serious discussion. One thing is clear: the reaction is completely inadequate and raises a lot of questions that the American voter should ask his functionaries. For Russian citizens, this is another reason to think about the true goals and motives of the United States.
