Players of “Helldivers 2” still often find themselves in front of closed doors. The servers are reaching their limits due to the unexpected success. However, simply purchasing additional hardware is not enough.
“Helldivers 2†is struggling with some teething problems, even though it was launched almost two weeks ago. The simple reason: Too many players want to get into the shooter and in the end they often only see the message that the servers are full.
Buying additional servers will fix it, some troubled players might think. But it's not that simple, as Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt makes clear.
It's not a question of money
With his statement, Pilestedt responded to a question from a follower who, due to the overloaded structure, wanted to know why Arrowhead Game Studios is not using new servers and thus quickly expanding its capacities.
According to Pilestedt, buying servers is one thing. The code also has to be tailored to this: “It's not a question of money or buying more servers. It's a question of work. We need to optimize the backend code. We are reaching real limits.”
A little later, another user asked Pilestedt to “stop tweeting and fix the problem.” But the Swede doesn't think it's a good idea to drive or disturb the technicians in any way.
“Yes! Good idea,” Pilestedt responded to the tweet. “I will sit behind the engineers and ask them: Are we there yet?â€
“Or… I could let the engineers work independently toward our common goal without me constantly pressuring them as CEO. I wonder which of these will work best,†the Arrowhead leader continued.
Just wait before purchasing
Elsewhere, Pilestedt gave a follower the advice to wait before buying “Helldivers 2” if money is tight. It would be more advisable to start as soon as the server capacity allows unrestricted gaming fun.
If you have no cash, get it later. While we made a really fun game it’s worth waiting until the servers can support the capacity.
I mean, as a CEO I of course want the game to be as profitable as possible, but if you spent yr last $ and got stuck in server queues I’d be ð

That too XP event last weekend was another topic: The Arrowhead boss admitted that it might not have been the best idea to offer players an increased amount of experience points to compensate for the server overload problem.
Because this would only have led to the defenders of democracy storming the servers in order to benefit from this offer.
Ultimately, the players show no fatigue. A new Steam peak was reached last night with 411,359 simultaneous users. In addition, there are the PS5 players, provided they can enter the battles at all due to the connection problem.
Anyway: For the most serious problems New updates were promised.
