Publisher SEGA announced a new strategy at the end of last year, within which they plan to revive well-established franchises in one form or another. At the moment, details about exactly what form the popular franchises will return to players have not been provided. But the insider MbKKssTBhz5who is known for accurate information from the SEGA camp, told some details about Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi.
Crazy Taxi will receive a remake of the original game, as well as a completely new service game, which they intend to develop for a long time. This service game will have a survival mode with up to 100 players participating simultaneously. Jet Set Radio will also receive a remake first, and then a service game based on the franchise will be launched. The insider promises that the game will have shooting elements, but the main gameplay will be about exploring the world, creating graffiti, learning stories and getting to know the characters. Remakes of Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio will be sold at full price with plans to release DLC for them. They are planned to be released by 2026. Reboots of the game-service will become shareware projects for the purpose of long-term development and profit. The insider notes that the service games are inspired by the games Fortnite and GTA Online; the publisher expects to develop them for a long time, including regular collaborations with well-known franchises.
Let us remind you that in addition to Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi, SEGA’s list of “new era” games includes projects based on the Golden Ax, Shinobi and Streets of Rage franchises. The insider has not yet specified details about them.
