Google has come a long way since its early days of experimenting with artificial intelligence. Meanwhile this is affecting everything, from your applications to services. Whether you're already using Gemini or implementing AI functionality in a Google app, it's increasingly difficult to avoid the company's AI technology. Now there is another new feature on the way. This also has the support of artificial intelligence. It is thanks to this technology that the Play Store will tell you the reasons to install an app.
Play Store will tell you what to install (or not)
According to an update posted on X (formerly Twitter) by @AssembleDebug, it appears that Google is using AI to generate information for the Highlights section of the Play Store application. When you tap an app in the store, you can see information about the app at a glance. However, Google reveals that the details are summarized by artificial intelligence.
Most of the information published in App Highlights is about what you'll find when you download the app, as well as any features like direct messaging and live streaming. For now the @AssembleDebug states that the function was enabled through a server-side change that Google enabled for a limited number of users. However, no more information is known about this yet. In other words, whether it will reach all devices or, for example, just Pixels.
This is not the first time that Google has experimented with things on the Play Store with the support of artificial intelligence. Previously, the search engine giant was found to be using it to summarize frequently asked questions on the Play Store.
Google isn't just committed to discovering all the ways AI can be used to improve the Play Store. It is also experimenting with other products and services. For example, AI integrated into Android Auto in late 2023 to help with message summarization.
