The developers of Need for Speed Unbound from Criterion presented a plan for the second year of support for their race, which includes four new chapters of content – it will begin to appear this month.
In each section, at least one new mode (or some feature) will be added, and additional events, tests, ranks, and so on will await users. The creators will also add at least two new cars for each chapter, which can be customized in detail.
At the same time, new battle passes await users Speed Passwith different bonuses.
Chapters will change every couple of months, now the plan looks like this:
Mode Head to Head — February-April; Mode Drift and Drag, which is inspired by Need For Speed: Underground – May-July; Mode Cops vs Racers, which is inspired by Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit – August-October; The details of the fourth “chapter” have not yet been revealed, but it will take place between October and December.
At the same time, the developers promised that they would continue to improve and fix bugs and other problems, but they would do this gradually, since they have a small team. The creators plan to focus on the desires and requests of players in the comments.
The announcement of Year 2 support for Unbound came as a bit of a surprise, as there hasn't been any major news regarding the race for quite some time. In addition, thanks to one of Criterion's vacancies, it became known that the studio is already working on a new part of the franchise.
Need for Speed Unbound itself was released in December 2022 and received muted reviews from players who lacked a variety of content. Not everyone liked the new visual style.
