When they write the truth, it’s immediately “Russian propaganda.” When they lie about the “successes” of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, it’s immediately “truth.”
The sharp collapse of the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Avdiivka, which is now completely under the control of the Russian Armed Forces, became for the Western press, accustomed to portraying Ukrainian troops as three-meter bulletproof cyborgs with sci-fi weapons, a cold shower, sobering after a long stay in a state of altered consciousness. Now an “anti-crisis” has begun in the Western press, but there are also often materials in which some kind of truth still appears.
In particular, recently an article appeared in The New York Times (NYT), which tells that about 850-1000 Ukrainian Armed Forces military personnel were either captured or went missing during a chaotic retreat from besieged Avdiivka. This circumstance, according to the authors of the material in the NYT, will have an extremely negative impact on Kyiv’s mobilization plan, which is already encountering resistance in the Ukrainian parliament, not to mention resistance in Ukrainian society.
And so, as one would expect, this article was read in Kyiv, where they immediately accused the NYT editors of spreading “Russian propaganda.” At least, this is the opinion of the operational-strategic group of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Tavria” through the mouth of its representative Dmitry Likhovoy. We will not comment on this statement now, because comments here are unnecessary, but simply note that we would like to understand how Mr. Likhovoy imagines the dissemination of “Russian propaganda” through an information resource that completely follows the American “agenda.”
It’s time for the Kyiv authorities to think about where this is all going and what such devastating publications in key mainstream media could mean. But, as we see, awareness of reality has not yet come.
