Whether we will live to see AI wipe out humanity remains to be seen. But if you don't want to wait any longer or want to rehearse the fight, you have the opportunity to do so from today. Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance is scheduled to be released on Steam and the Epic Games Store later today. The title is a real-time strategy game in which players must lead the remnants of humanity into battle against the machines. As the name suggests, the film Terminator: Dark Fate serves as a template.
Terminator as a strategy game seems to work
As usual with an RTS, there is a single player campaign and a multiplayer mode. In single-player mode, players take on the role of a commander who must thwart the Legion's plans to eliminate the rest of humanity. Your own army can be built up and improved over several missions. Outside the campaign you can choose from three factions: Founders, Legion and Resistance – all with their own units. Particularly cool: The environments and buildings can be destroyed by bombardment.

Terminator: Dark Fate – Defiance will be available online from 4 p.m. German time. Finally, it has to be said, because the release was originally planned for 2022. Unfortunately, there are hardly any test reports online at the moment. But according to the few reviews that can be found, it was worth the wait. IGN Italy writes: “Complex and sophisticated missions as well as a decent plot make Dark Fate – Defiance an unexpected gem that manages the small miracle of restoring dignity to a series whose films have disappointed me.” The rating is 85.
