MG's parent company, SAIC, will unveil a new electric car for Europe at the Geneva Motor Show. Its name: IM L6. We already know some of its technical characteristics, including its autonomy: 800 km thanks to a semi-solid battery.

MG is an English electric car brand… but owned by the Chinese group SAIC. Among the different brands, we can cite IM for Intelligent Mobility. For the moment, this automaker sells its electric cars (LS6, LS7 and L7) only in China. But that will soon change, since IM will make its official arrival in Europe in a few months.
IM L6: an electric car with 800 km of autonomy
It is during the Geneva Motor Show that the Chinese brand will lift the veil on its new car, the IM L6 which we already know a little about. A sedan, which comes with the LS6 SUV in the range. This is a strong signal sent by the Chinese brand: it will take advantage of a European show to unveil this new electric car.
IM L6
Officially, we don't know much about this car, except that it will be an “innovative, high-end 100% electric sedan, equipped with cutting-edge technologies” as announced in the press release. Other information: the autonomy in the European WLTP cycle reaches 800 km with a semi-solid battery and 600 km with a more classic lithium-ion version. 0 to 100 km/h can be achieved in less than 3 seconds.
Unofficial information
MG accompanies the press release with a photo of the L7, the brand's other sedan. The reason: L6 is not official, and we are not supposed to know what it looks like. But that was without counting on the Chinese Ministry of Information, which published the approval photos of this new car a few weeks ago. As well as various technical information.
We therefore know that it will still measure 4.93 meters long and 1.96 meters wide. We would be entitled to different versions in terms of engine, with a priori a two-wheel drive version and an all-wheel drive version. Power would range from 340 to 787 horsepower.
IM L6
For the battery, different capacities would be on the agenda, namely 70, 91 or 100 kWh which we already find on the LS6 SUV. But we can imagine an even greater capacity, thanks to the semi-solid battery. This should make it possible to increase energy density, and therefore store more electricity in the same volume. This is a technology already used by Nio with the 150 kWh battery.
Recharging also promises to be ultra-fast, since there is a power of around 400 kW on the LS6 SUV, with 500 km of autonomy recovered in just 15 minutes.
Price and availability
For the price, you should expect a higher price than MG cars. The IM brand is rather positioned high-end. For comparison, the LS6 starts in China from 229,900 yuan (around 31,480 euros). Compare with the 258,900 yuan of the Tesla Model Y (around 33,200 euros in conversion compared to 42,990 euros in France). We can therefore expect a price in euros around 45,000 euros.
IN LS6
IM will launch its first electric cars in Europe in 2025. Competition should be fierce, especially with Chinese production which will prevent it from being entitled to certain national aid such as ecological bonuses.
