A fireball is flying towards you – what should you do? How about you just wave your magic wand and swap places with your attacker. Suddenly it is on fire and you can continue exploring the magical chaos in the Greifenstein Academy. Actually, your first year of school should just start there, but after completing the extensive character editor, you find out that unknown people are attacking the castle. You prove to be a natural magical talent and master your first spells at record speed. That's a good thing, because many students are still inside the academy, which is constantly changing as a protective mechanism, and you are supposed to save them. For this mission you can thank the protector of the castle. Greif Murlein has given you a feather that will keep you safe if your life is in danger.
Every time you enter Greifenstein, you will encounter different enemies, characters, rooms and secrets. The latter are sometimes more, sometimes less obvious, but always lovingly built into the environment. For example, a cracked window can be destroyed. The highlight of the game is the combat system, because thanks to 21 learnable spells that can be customized with artifacts, you can fight exactly the way you want. A straightforward attack can work, but cleverly dancing on the faces of enemies and especially the bosses at the end of each area is twice as satisfying and entertaining.
Opinion
Emily Schuhmann says: Why wait for a Hogwarts letter when we also have a magical school? The graphics are colorful and inviting, the plot is entertaining, the music is harmonious and more games should allow me to levitate opponents and then repeatedly smash them into each other using telekinesis. Enemy types and environments could use a bit more variety, but the creative combat system is pleasing. Thanks to the many magic combinations, you'll never get bored, even after many runs.
