Marvel Studios has decided to completely disassociate itself from Kang, the Conqueror. After he was found guilty several months ago of assaulting his partner, the company opted for his immediate dismissal and began considering alternatives for the character's future within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thanks to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, we now know that the studio has decided to sideline the villain, removing him from nearly all of the company's future projects. This even includes the title of the next movie from the Avengerswhich until now was known as Kang Dynasty.
However, it appears that these changes were in the making even before Majors faced accusations. His participation in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania failed to convince audiences, and Marvel had already begun to consider a future without the character, whose popularity had since declined.
Additionally, the article reveals that Marvel has modified its approach after the box office failures of some of its latest films. For example, Thunderbolts will have Joanna Calo, showrunner of the acclaimed series The Bear, as the new scriptwriter for the project, as well as Eric Pearson to write part of The Fantastic Four. Fortunately, the wait will become more bearable with the launch of Deadpool 3 in the summer of this year, which seeks to be the great success of the new era of Marvel Studios.
