WhatsApp has added 4 new formatting options for sent messages. The application already allowed text to be bold, italic, strikethrough and monospaced. And now you can create numbered or bulleted lists, quotes, and inline code.
How to use WhatsApp’s new formatting
The popular Meta messaging platform has added 4 new options for formatting text during a conversation. These new formats are now available for the mobile application and WhatsApp Web. To use them, simply follow the steps below:
Bulleted list: Type “-” and then give a space
Numbered list: Type 1 or 2 digits followed by a period and a space
Block quote: Type “>” followed by a space
Embedded code: Type “`” before and after the desired text
If you don't remember how to use the formatting that WhatsApp already provided, here are the guidelines:
Bold: Type “*” before and after the desired text
Italic: Type “_” before and after the message you want to italicize
Strikethrough: Type “~” before and after the text you want to leave “crossed out”
Monospaced: Type ““`” before and after the typed text
WhatsApp even allows you to create a quick note, read the text aloud or translate certain text. To do this, the text simply needs to be in the message bar that has not yet been sent. These options can be found when you select the desired text and click on the “…” menu that appears.
