Those: Blizzard
February 21, 2024 at 10:35 a.m. – The WoW developers want to prevent players' frustration and noticeably increase the bad luck protection of the legendary two-handed weapon Fyr'alath.
Even several months after the start of the 3rd season of WoW Dragonflight and the opening of the Amirdrassil raid, countless warriors, paladins and death knights are still on the hunt for the new legendary. But the drop rate of Fyr'alath, Fyrakk's legendary two-handed weapon, is more than poor.
Unlike before, the WoW developers had bad luck protection right at the start, but that didn't help either. Because luck still plays a very, very big role. While some players have been clearing the raid and defeating the final boss every week since Day 1 – and still don't have the weapon – others got the Legendary in the first LFR run.
Because this causes more frustration than joy, the developers have now intervened again and, according to their own statements, increased the chance of drops “significantly” – at least for hard-working players!

Blizzard is cranking up Bad Luck Protection for Legendary
Blizzard has decided to put an end to the frustration surrounding the Legendary – or at least to try. But you don't want to just increase the drop chance so high that everyone gets it within the next two attempts. Instead, the hard-working players who have just had bad luck so far should be rewarded.
This is why the WoW developers are pivoting the bad luck protection is massively high. As a reminder, with every boss kill you have the chance to get one Low Ember of Fyrakk (There's even one for the Fyrakk kill Great Ember of Fyrakk ). These increase your chance of getting the Legendary.
Source: Blizzard Fyrakk has had to deal mainly with paladins, warriors and death knights in the past few weeks.
The developers are now massively increasing this “increase in chance”. But the most important thing about it is: The increase also has a retrospective effect! This means it also applies to all Embers of Fyrakk that you have collected and used in the past. So anyone who has been diligent has a significantly higher chance of getting the legendary two-handed weapon since this ID.
But one question remains. How high is the increase now? Because a “significant” increase of almost nothing is still almost nothing. Unfortunately, we can't answer this question because Blizzard continues to keep quiet about exact numbers. However, our first runs at the start of the ID showed that the drop is far from guaranteed for very hard-working players, but the probability is still very high.
Here the official statement the developer to now actively increase the drop chance:
Many aspects of Dragonflight have reflected a shift in philosophy towards designs that allow us to enjoy reaching a point where we feel “done” with a character’s power progression. Legendaries returned as an exception to this. Legendaries are intended to be a special reward that some players would aspire to obtain over the course of a season, demonstrating a display of excellence in the most challenging content.
As Season 3 has unfolded, we’ve increasingly heard feedback from frustrated players who have been clearing Amirdrassil weekly on Heroic difficulty with no Fyr’alath in sight, and we want to give those players a surer path to achieving their goal.
Earlier today, with a hotfix that is now live, we significantly increased the effect of all Embers of Fyr’alath for players who receive them. This increase is retroactive and applies to all players whether or not you’ve consumed any Embers you may have.
As always, thank you for your feedback!
