Intel has not yet received its share.
Bloomberg allowed us to form a picture of the specifics of the speech of US Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo at an Intel event dedicated to stories about the company's plans in the field of lithography. The official spoke via videoconference and emphasized the need to increase the size of subsidies that the US authorities provide to companies wishing to organize the production of chips in the country. Let us recall that the “Chip Law” adopted in 2022 provides for the allocation of $39 billion in non-repayable subsidies and $75 billion in the form of preferential loans for these needs.

As Gina Raimondo explained, if the United States wants to maintain global leadership in technology, it will require some kind of new “Chip Act” that will attract additional funds to the industry. “We are too far behind. We lost sight of the ball,” the minister described the situation figuratively. She confirmed that she had spoken with OpenAI founder Sam Altman, and now shares his opinion that the market will require a “mind-boggling number of chips” at the planned pace of development of the technology industry.
The US Secretary of Commerce did not say anything directly about the amount of subsidies for Intel's needs during her speech, but called the company an “American champion.” According to Intel management, an announcement on the allocation of budget funds to support the company's projects in the United States will be made soon.
