Developers from Moon Studios (creators of Ori) are sharing details about their ARPG No Rest for the Wicked, which should be released later in 2024 – first on PC, and then on consoles. The debut trailer of the project reminded many of the combat system of the Diablo series games. But the developers, in a new video for IGN, said that they have atypical and much more complex battles for an ARPG.
Some points that became known about the combat No Rest for the Wicked from the new IGN video:
The developers themselves compare the combat system in their project to Dark Souls and Monster Hunter, and not to Path of Exile or Diablo. Players will rarely need to face large crowds of enemies. Most often, this is one or a couple of opponents, but you won’t be able to simply “summon” them; you will need to approach each battle thoughtfully. As in Souls games, in order to strike and somersault the hero will have to spend stamina, which is slowly replenished. You will need to think tactically about how to spend this resource most effectively. During battles with enemies, a special resource will accumulate that can be used to use rune abilities (built into weapons). Bosses in the game will have their own vulnerabilities, which players can learn about from plot or find it yourself during battles.
