One of the biggest bombshells that occurred yesterday, and also so far this year, is the fact that four video games that were exclusive to Microsoft will head to other platforms. One of them will be Sea of Thieves, so that those with a PS5 can join this world of pirates to live their own adventure. An event that Rare itself considers as a historic moment.
The company has published a video to celebrate the launch of this new version, which will undoubtedly mark a before and after. As Shelley Preston, associate design director, has reported, for the entire team this is a very exciting moment because it will be the first time in Rare's nearly 40-year history that one of their games will be published on a PlayStation console.
Likewise, Mike Chapman, creative director, added that “something we have always been passionate about is the idea that we must remove the barriers that prevent players from playing together. It is a very surreal moment for us.”
And one of the biggest features of the game's arrival on PS5 is the fact that will have crossplay function, so that everyone can play with whoever they want, regardless of the platform from which everyone is connected. All of this, as different members of Rare have commented, will allow more players to live their own stories and thus enrich this world even more.
What's more, Rare itself is convinced that the success of Sea of Thieves It's largely due to community support, so I'm looking forward to seeing more players enjoy the experience. That will be from April 30th when the game will lift anchor towards the Sony console.
