Netmarble has announced the closure of third-party MOBA Paragon: The Overprime, which was released in early access in December 2022. The game's servers will be shut down on April 22, 2024, and in-game purchases will no longer be available. There is no information about the return of real funds spent.
Paragon: The Overprime is a third-person MOBA based on free assets from Epic Games' proprietary game Paragon. The project was initially developed under the name Overprime by Team SoulEve, which then became part of Netmarble. After this, the authors managed to obtain the rights to use the word Paragon in the title from Epic Games.
At launch, Paragon: The Overprime was quite a success, with the maximum number of players reaching 32 thousand. However, online soon began to decline rapidly, despite frequent updates. Now, on average, from 300 to 1000 people play the project at the same time. This is probably the reason for the imminent closure of the servers.
It is worth noting that another Paragon clone created on the assets of this game, called Predecessor, is currently available on Steam and the Epic Games Store. True, the game is in paid early access and is sold for 350 rubles.
