The Riese & Müller brand unveils a small Carrie electric cargo bike, taking up the idea of the Muli with a folding body, but with more modularity and an added Bosch ecosystem.

A biporter is a type of electric bike that is very practical and secure for transporting heavy loads and several children. But such a cargo bike is very imposing and heavy: Riese & Müller tries to combine business with pleasure, with a compact bike called Carrie, a mini-bicycle with a folding body.
In reality, this is not really anything new, because this Carrie is largely inspired by another electric cargo bike: the Muli, an alternative in the form of a small two-wheeler, in 16-inch format, with an ingenious folding body. It has been offered in three electric versions for some time, including the latest ST Pro equipped with a Shimano EP6 Cargo motor.

The Riese & Müller offers an aluminum frame (81% recycled) typical of the brand, reminiscent of the Packster and Load two-wheeled big brothers. With a more plush, confidence-inspiring structure, the Carrie does not appear to be an underbike, and stands out well from the Multitinker longtail. The two tubes at the front will provide reassurance in the event of side impacts, protecting toddlers. You can also place your shopping or objects such as a large Eurobox on it, while the maximum load is 80 kg,
A small modular two-wheeler
A box called Flexbox, foldable, rests on rigid expanded polypropylene walls, with steel reinforcements and matching the shape of the structure. While plastic is not the greenest material, all associated textiles are made from recycled materials. You can actually put accessories there, including a flexible children's kit. Two children can therefore sit there, or even a third in the back on the optional luggage rack.

The folding body disappears in a second version of the Riese & Müller Carrie with the Basic Box, where only the fixed body bottom remains. Measuring 45 x 30 cm, it is more aimed at professionals. It offers an optional cover as well as a 90 liter cargo bag to protect against bad weather. Even if you purchase the Basic Box, the brand offers the Flex Box as an extra if necessary.
With 200 kg in total (bike included), the capacity is impressive for an electric bike measuring just 2.09 meters and weighing 34 kg. This remains 19 cm more than an Otwo, but 35 cm less than a Packster. The width of 46 cm is very practical for moving around town with a closed body, and especially for parking this small two-wheeler.

Advantage over competitors: the Riese & Müller Carrie can store a small load when closed, which is additionally secured with a key. Another contribution, the child's kit folds with the body, but on condition that the headrests are removed. The catalog also includes a tinted rain hood available with sun protection (and rain protection at the rear, as it is open to the parent for communication).
A Riese & Müller associated with Bosch
Riese & Müller obliges, the Carrie is an electric bike associated with the Bosch ecosystem. The Performance Line central motor pushes the small cargo ship with its 75 Nm of torque, linked to the optional 545 Wh or 725 Wh battery. As usual, the Teutonic firm duplicates the transmission offer, here in Enviolo with belt or 10-speed derailleur.

It remains to be seen the price of this Riese & Müller Carrie, which should become available during the month of March.
