As you well know, the cross-play didn't make it to the launch of Mortal Kombat 1 and the developers needed a few months of work to work on this extra feature. However, the wait is over and the team led by Ed Boon has finally revealed the arrival of the feature on almost all platforms.
Below is the message shared by Netherrealm Studios on the official social channels of the fighting game series:
“With peace comes Krossplay. This feature will be included in next week's update and will only be supported by PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). Further details will be released soon next week.”
As you could easily imagine, the Nintendo Switch version will not enjoy cross-play support (or Krossplay, as it is called by the developers), which will instead be supported by the PC and the latest generation Sony and Microsoft consoles. The patch output is fixed to next weeksince cross-play will accompany the arrival of Peacemaker in Early Access.
At the moment, the specific details of cross-play and its possible limitations are not known, but Netherrealm Studios has confirmed that in the next few days it will be possible to discover all the details of this feature which will break down the barriers between players on different platforms.
