According to analyst Michael Pachter, Microsoft has lost the battle for consoles. But when it comes to the question of who will be more profitable across the board, the answer is Microsoft. Namely “10 or 100 times.”
The past sales charts from all countries have underlined the dominance of the PlayStation 5. The Sony console has now found over 50 million buyers, while the Xbox Series X/S is probably only sold half as often hat.
In addition, Microsoft has now decided to four of its exclusive titles to the PlayStation community. It cannot be ruled out that other games will lose their exclusivity in the future.
For many gamers it is now clear: Microsoft lost the competition against Sony. However, only the consoles are affected, as Michael Pachter now points out in his latest video.
Only the console war is lost
“I think the players' opinion that they lost to Sony is simply wrong. They lost the battle for consoles. If you measure your value by having to sell more consoles or otherwise being bad, great. If the question is who will be more profitable, Microsoft. By 10 or 100 times,” says the analyst.
By the way, Pachter's video is entitled “Can the Xbox Series X make a comeback?” He answered this question with a yes.
In his opinion, Microsoft could still turn things around – but only in theory. How? By eliminating Game Pass and lowering the Xbox price.
If Microsoft wanted to win the generation, they would win the generation.

According to Pachter, the goal is three billion people
But Microsoft would only lose money through such measures and has something completely different in mind anyway. They want to bring video games to not just 300 million people, but three billion people. As a result, the price of Game Pass could continue to fall in the future: first from 15 to 10 dollars a month, then to 5 dollars with advertising. In the latter case, every player would be forced to watch commercials.
Pachter thinks: “People will endure this, and Microsoft will make a lot of money. More people will play games and pay less for them, so I think they win. They just don’t win the console generation.”
In any case, Microsoft now has the fodder to keep Game Pass growing. Michael Pachter mentions titles like “Elder Scrolls 6” and also “the entire Call of Duty catalog”. He therefore assumes that Game Pass will reach at least 200 million people.
