Against the background of record demand for computing accelerators, incomes of both Nvidia itself and its partners are growing. In particular, SK Hynix, which is one of the main suppliers of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) memory chips, has already received orders for all such chips released during 2024. And this despite the fact that the South Korean chipmaker has planned a doubling of HBM memory production volumes for the current year!
Nvidia Grace Hopper Superchip
This year, HBM3E chips will be in greatest demand. For example, they are used in top Nvidia Hopper accelerators. They will also be equipped with next-generation devices based on Blackwell architecture. Anticipating huge demand, Nvidia paid Micron and SK Hynix more than a billion dollars in advance for HBM3E chips at the end of 2023.
By the way, about Nvidia Blackwell accelerators. The management of the “green” company expects that the demand for them will significantly exceed the available supply, in other words, a repeat of last year’s situation with Hopper generation devices is likely. The company's optimism in this segment can be judged by its financial forecasts – Nvidia expects to finish the current quarter with $24 billion in revenue.
