The developers of the third-person MOBA SMITE 2 talked about the graphical advantages of the Unreal Engine 5 game engine.
First of all, the authors note the work with light and shadows using Lumen technology, which solved a lot of problems out of the box. For example, previously you had to spend a lot of time “baking” shadows, but now all shadows are calculated in real time.
All materials and surfaces in the game now look more realistic. Character animations have been updated to be smoother and more responsive. In addition, the characters' skills have become more detailed, both graphically and in animations.
The engine's built-in tools made it easier to work with some elements and materials, such as fabrics. This allowed the team to focus on developing the characters themselves.
Let us remind you that closed alpha testing of SMITE 2 will take place in the spring of 2024, and you can apply on the official website.
