The cult detective-psychological quest Sublustrum (Outcry abroad) from the St. Petersburg studio Phantomery Interactive will receive a new life in the form of a remake. This was announced by the screenwriter and composer of the game Georgy Beloglazov.
Beloglazov spoke about plans for the restoration of Sublustrum back in the winter of 2020, shortly after buying out the rights to the game. Back then we were talking about a re-release of the Full Throttle Remastered level, but since then the scale of the project has grown noticeably.
According to Beloglazov, “that day has come” when he finally began the process of “relaunching” Sublustrum. We are talking about recreating the cult game from scratch in 3D using the Unity engine for PC, tablets and mobile devices.
As part of the initiative, Beloglazov again joined forces with “the guys who were at the origins” of Sublustrum: “So, we can say that Phantomery Interactive is returning to this world after 17 years.”
The development of the Sublustrum remake is at an early stage, so Beloglazov is not ready to give a time frame for completing the game: “Quality is paramount for us, and we are not chasing a quick commercial result.”
Currently, Beloglazov is busy assembling a team: the project requires a manager, a game designer / technical writer, a technical artist, a Unity developer and a 3D artist / level designer.
Sublustrum was released in May 2008 on PC and, despite modest commercial performance, became a cult game. The game combines elements of classic quests with the author's approach to the plot, visual and sound design.
