Prepare for war, because this highly anticipated tactical RPG has just launched its demo on Nintendo Switch.
With the Nintendo Direct on February 21, the Japanese company is at the heart of video game news. Amidst all the announcements that have pleased many fans, there is a game that has been a little overshadowed. Awaited by many genre insiders for several months now, this tactical RPG is already available in demo on Nintendo Switch, and it promises a lot ; Unicorn Overlord is going to be talked about.
Kingdom, battles and strategies
Unicorn Overlord is a real-time strategy game that immerses players in a fantasy world where they play as overlords seeking to expand their influence and dominate the kingdom. With elements of city building, resource management and epic battles, players must develop their own city, recruit a powerful army made up of different magical creatures, and face other rival lords. The unique feature of Unicorn Overlord's gameplay is that all battles take place in real time and are divided between the movement of troops on the battlefield and combat when two units meet. However, the player can pause in order to change strategy, or to check the status of his units.
An ambitious game
With a goal of creating a modern take on classic 90s tactical games, the concept of Unicron Overlord is not new; It has been more than 10 years since the subject was raised. Indeed, it was in 2014 that Takafumi Noma was approached by the producers of Dragon's Crown to create a new strategy game. Although they reached an agreement fairly quickly, the game's development was heavily delayed by Vanilaware's plans. But here it is finally, with Takafumi Noma in charge of the gameplay and Mitsuhiro Kenda who takes care of the music, Unicron Overlord is scheduled for March 8. While waiting for the imminent release of this game with its fairly advanced 2D graphics, the demo is already available on the Nintendo E-shop, so you can form your own opinion.
