The popular mobile game Infinity Blade was released on iOS in 2010, but five years ago it disappeared from the store Applealong with the sequels. Now, an avid fan of the series, who chose not to reveal his identity, managed to bring her life back. He created an amateur port of Infinity Blade for PC.
Infinity Blade created Chair Entertainment and Epic Games on an adapted version of the Unreal Engine 3, brought developers $23 million in just over a year. Epic Games Director Tim Sweeney stated that in terms of the ratio of resources spent to income, Infinity Blade was more profitable than Gears of War.
The amateur port features updated textures, graphics, and various optimizations including keybindings, audio sliders, file management, and more. The creator assures that the project serves solely to preserve the lost game, and he does not receive anything in return.
The creator of the PC port of Infinity Blade also recalled that the source code and assets have long been in the public domain, while the game cannot be officially purchased. But it is still unknown whether these arguments will convince copyright holders.
