“Helldivers 2” has set a new player record on Steam. But the PS5 version also does well, as the information on the European weekly charts shows.
“Helldivers 2” has been on the market for more than two weeks. Since its release, new Steam peaks have been achieved regularly. And the latest record was only a few hours ago.
Last night, up to 458,709 defenders of democracy were playing the shooter on Steam at the same time. This makes it clear that success is by no means slowing down. “Helldivers 2” is still at the top of the Steam sales charts.
Current sales figures are not available. All that is known is that immediately after the launch The million mark was passed. At the same time there was talk of a 50:50 share on PS5 and PC. But how have sales developed since then? There are no precise figures for Europe, but there are relative success figures.
Skull and Bones had no chance
Christopher Dring from Gamesindustry spoke up Twitter/X had his say and gave a foretaste of the latest charts from Europe. Accordingly, “Helldivers 2” was the best-selling game in the second week of sales by a comfortable margin. The physical and digital versions were taken into account.
Sales reached two and a half times the amount of the runner-up, which is Ubisoft's “Skull and Bones”. The pirate game failed to completely convince players and the press. Ours You can read the test here.
But how are sales of “Helldivers 2” distributed on PS5 and PC? Dring also has an answer ready: “Helldivers 2 performed slightly better on the PC, but only slightly.”
This means that the initial value of around 50:50 has largely been maintained, at least in Europe. And with a look at the Steam charts you can guess that “Helldivers 2” is also a bestseller on the PS5.

New player maximums secured
“Helldivers 2” became a surprise success, attracting more players than planned. The result was overcrowded servers and the excessive use of corresponding warning messages.
A lot has happened since the launch. Several updates followed and the maximum possible number of players also increased significantly. “We have the maximum Updated CCU cap to 700,000” wrote studio boss Jonan Pilestedt yesterday on Twitter/X.
However, the studio assumes that the new upper limit for “concurrent users” is not sufficient either. As mentioned at the beginning, up to 458,709 players were playing the shooter at the same time on Steam alone last night. However, Pilestedt believes that the “waiting times are becoming much more bearable”.
The Arrowhead CEO has already explained that to increase capacity it is not enough to simply buy new servers or hastily hire employees:
“Helldivers 2” was released on February 8, 2024 for PS5 and PC. The shooter is part of Sony's live service initiative and appears to be too To interest gamers on Xbox.
