Sizes like Civilization 6 or the Total War-Serie have significantly shaped the 4X genre. Now Paradox Interactive and C Prompt Games also want to get involved in the market. Millennia is the name of the new strategy giant, which is scheduled to appear as early as next month. In a first trailer, the developers talk about what players can expect and why Millennia should be unique.
The next big Civilization competitor?
The similarities between Civilization and Millennia are unmistakable at first glance. Nevertheless, the makers of C Prompt want to put their own stamp on the 4X genre. A special feature of the title are the dynamic age. Depending on the style of play, these should change and have a significant influence on the gaming experience, which in turn should lead to a high replay value.

As ruler, you can control the fate of your nation. A detailed tech tree and a detailed economic system are intended for a profound Turn-based strategy experience care for. However, you can of course also take the violent route and attack and conquer your neighbors.
The approach towards “alternative history” could also prove extremely interesting. In “what if” scenarios, aliens can attack the world or a steampunk age can be triggered. In another scenario, the players have to take down an AI that has gone wild.
It remains to be seen whether Millennia will actually be able to compete with Civilization and get involved in the 4X genre. By the way, the 4X stand for the elements explore, expand, exploit and exterminate and are an essential part of global strategy games.
When will Millennia appear?
Millennia is supposed to be on March 26, 2024 for the PC via Steam appear. The developers also want to release two expansions, Ancient Worlds and Atomic Amibitions, later this year. During a public demo at the beginning of February, players were able to get their first impression of Millennia.
