iRacing is an absolute phenomenon in sim racing. It is not without reason that, apart from hobbyists and motorsport fans, you can also find the reigning Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen on the online platform again and again. In addition to the licensing system and the high frequency of events, realism is also a trademark of the title.
The idea of publishing one of the world's most famous racing simulations on iPhone, Android and Co. sounds correspondingly crude. But this doesn't seem to be too far away in the minds of some people in the iRacing cosmos. The focus is less on the online platform and more on the next NASCAR game, which will be created under the auspices of the platform.
iRacing for smartphones?
They want to release a brand new NASCAR game in 2025. The history of iRacing certainly suggests that having your own video game about America's most popular motorsport could be a stroke of luck. The platform originated from the Payprus studio, a leading developer in the racing game genre in the 90s and early 2000s.
In addition to IndyCar Racing 1 and 2 and Grand Prix Legends, the NASCAR racing games made huge waves at the time. However, 2003 was the end of the day for the franchise and therefore also for the studio. From the ashes of Papyrus would eventually rise the phoenix we know today as iRacing.
Steve Myers, vice president of iRacing, recently spoke to the website OverTake on the subject of mobile gaming. “The difficult thing at or in [Mobile Gaming] is it, [herauszufinden]”What game you want to develop,” said Myers in an interview.
“Do you want to develop something that is a kind of companion app for iRacing? Or do you want to develop a full game with career mode and everything?”
Myers previously mentioned the specially developed World of Outlaws game as a comparison, which was published more or less successfully on the Nintendo Switch. It is currently unclear where exactly the racing game based on the Unreal Engine will ultimately be released. Legally, you have the PC, Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and mobile devices as options.
The vice president definitely expects at least an annual release. Steve Myers' full statements can be found here. How close we will be to the online simulator remains to be seen. A priority is clearly the attempt to make the title experienceable and enjoyable with a gamepad.

Single player revolution in iRacing: When is career mode coming?
The question currently arises as to when the single-player career mode advertised for iRacing will actually be launched.
The game itself is under the supervision of iRacing Monster Games developed. So you shouldn't necessarily expect a copy of iRacing for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Only the release can show how the more or less maneuverable cars will ultimately behave.
