MSI has been busy promoting the upcoming line-up of QD-OLED monitors in the past few weeks. At least in the USA, they want to attract customers with low prices compared to Asus' competing products; both manufacturers also offer a three-year guarantee on the burn-in effect. In a post on the OLED_Gaming subreddit, an MSI employee commented on the planned products – but also had some bad news with him.

While the joy of communication initially prevailed, the user “Mars0813” asked more closely – will the MAG-321UPX receive firmware updates? “MSI_Darutohne” clearly answered this question in the negative, meaning that the MAG-271QPX will not receive any software updates either. Only the 34-inch MAG-341CQP from the MAG series is excluded from this; The MPG series receives the usual firmware updates anyway.
In a sense, under the circumstances, the possibility of up-to-date software is behind a payment barrier: If you want to be up-to-date on the software side of MSI's 2024 OLED monitors, you have to go for the MPG models, which are around $50 more expensive. Given this, some of the comments are visibly unhappy with the approach; In some cases, individuals have already announced that they will cancel their pre-orders or return the display immediately upon arrival. There is no known reason why MSI does not offer software updates for monitors that cost at least 900 US dollars.
