On February 23, gaming insider eXtas1s said that Xbox is developing a new version of the Xbox Series X, which should be released in the summer of 2024. According to him, this version of the console will be completely digital, and it is made in white. In terms of specifications, the new version of the Xbox Series X will not be radically different from the current console, but the insider said that it will receive an updated Nexus card.
The Nexus Card is a component of the Xbox Series X that controls the power button, indicator light, and eject button on the console. It connects to the motherboard using a ribbon cable. Below in the images from the video on disassembling Xbox consoles you can see what exactly this component is.
As noted above, the Nexus card is responsible for the buttons and indicator, and below you can see schematically where it is located on any current Xbox Series X game console.
The insider did not specify what changes the Nexus card will receive in the updated version of the Xbox Series X. But, obviously, in the absence of a console disc drive, there will be no need for a disc eject button on the console, which is its area of responsibility.
