The interest around Palworld, the phenomenon of the beginning of the year, has now faded. It must be said that after fifty hours of gameplay, there is not much left to do on the large map of the survival game/Pokémon. Except for this player who has 140 hours under his belt and who clearly hasn't been twiddling his thumbs.
Palworld, already the end of the phenomenon?
At the start of the year, we almost only talked about Palworld. The famous “Pokémon with guns” was able to get people talking about him, both good and bad. He was as well entitled to a series of questions on the ethics of his proposal as to a record number of players which continued to increase over the weeks. At the beginning of the month, the studio indicated that no less than 19 million players had fallen for their game (12 million players on Steam, 7 million on Xbox/Game Pass). But since then, the number of active players on the game has plummeted.
We went from a peak of 2.1 million simultaneous players on Steam to just half a million players a few days ago. A notable drop but one that is easily explained. Any phenomenon of this kind is likely to fade, even the community manager of Pocketpair recognizes this: “This emerging discourse according to which “Palworld, like many games before it, is not able to inject massive quantities new content every week. New content will be coming, and it's going to be great, but these things take a little time. There are so many amazing games to play; you don't need to feel guilty about switching from one game to another.” Especially since Palworld has nothing to be ashamed of since it is, at the time of writing, the fifth Steam game with the most simultaneous players. And yes, there are many who continue to have fun with the game and to find new things to do. This is particularly the case of this player who has logged more than 140 hours of play on Palworld and who has demonstrated great creativity.
140 hours and a fortress
One of the pillars of Palworld's gameplay is base creation. And the player Rumakian understood that well. On Reddit, he shared images of his base, which is actually a real fortress. Note that to create this impressive building, this player had the right to a little help. If the bases today can only accommodate 20 workers, finally Pals, a mod allows this number to be doubled. Thanks to this substantial payroll, Rumakian has made his task a little easier, even if it remains colossal. And it's not over ! According to him, the fortress is almost finished (90%), but that means he still has work to do. Needless to say, he's not ready to stop playing the game.
Note that there were a lot of particularly elaborate bases on Palworld. This is particularly the case of that of ParsleyTheDruid, also shared on Reddit. The guy has settled in a particularly clever place: at the top of a tower in the middle of No Man's Trail. Not only is the visual rendering great but it allows it to be immune to raids of all kinds, the base being inaccessible for poachers or angry Pals. Well done artist!
